Estudio de factibilidad técnica y económica bajo el estándar IBOC para la futura implementación de radio digital en la emisora Radio Majestad en Santo Domingo.

Abstract

In this research work was carried out the study that determines the technical and economic feasibility of a future implementation of digital radio based on the IBOC standard applied in the Radial Majesty radio station in Santo Domingo. The deductive research and field research method was used, the first to collect information that allowed understanding the operation of digital radio standards and point-to-area prediction methods for terrestrial services in the frequency range of 30 to 300 MHz, the second was to extract information about the current operation and resources of the radio station. A comparative analysis was made between the standards In band On Channel (IBOC) and Radio Digital Mondial (DRM), which will be possibly adapted in Ecuador through an examination of parameters and allocation of weights. The technical study was formed by designing a digital architecture based on the parameters of the IBOC standard, the transmission capacity of the system was analyzed and the Xirio software was used to determine the coverage and intensity of the field. Of financial tools and projections were specified the possible financial statements of the radial station after applying the change to the digitalization. The results of the comparison and the technical proposal established that the best option to implement a digital radio system is the IBOC standard, besides that through the hybrid operation mode it can be send the conventional analog signal and 2 digital signals at the same time, improving the economy of the radio station obtained an approximate net profit of 45% additional of its current profits. It is concluded that the project is feasible, technically as economically. For future implementations or projects under the IBOC standard, it is recommended to take this research as a reference.
