Estudio de impacto ambiental ex-post de la Granja Porcina Los Ángeles, ubicado en la Vía Monterrey km 15, del cantón La Concordia, provincia de Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, 2015.

Abstract

In the present investigation the environmental impacts that the different activities that are carried out in the Pig Farm Los Angeles, located in the route Monterrey km 15 of the Canton La Concordia are evaluated. It was based on an environmental diagnosis of the physical, biotic and social conditions that are within the area of influence, allowing to evaluate the environmental impacts that could arise by the activities of the farm and at the same time to propose an adequate plan of environmental management that minimizes of prevent the negative impacts of it, all in accordance with current environmental regulations. The farm manages 1740 pigs per year within its production, breeding and fattening activities. These data were taken into account for the execution of the research through several methodologies, which are: descriptive, qualitative – quantitative, field and application. Spot-sampling techniques and laboratory analysis were used to build the baseline of the Ex-Post Environmental Impact Study (EsIA). In addition, the Battelle-Columbus matrix was determined as the best method to determine and evaluate the environmental impacts were: beneficial impacts with their percentage of 30% and slight impacts 25%, both derived from the operational and maintenance activities within farm, moderate and critical impacts with a percentage of 35% and 10% respectively, which came from the management of slurry and treatment of waste water from the farm, there were severe impacts. It was concluded that the activities carried out at the Los Angeles Swine Farm do not generate severe environmental impacts on the area of influence, so it was recommended that good environmental practices be applied to the activities developed and thus maintain a sustainable production, allowing resources for the future generations.
