Análisis de rendimiento entre Postgresql y Sql Server usando Hammerdb y Manage Engine aplicado al Sistema Académico de Conduespoch

Abstract

Comparative analysis between PostgreSQL and SQL Server, with the aim to gauge the performance in the implementing of web application, executed to the Academic System of CONDUESPOCH. To make the comparative analysis was applied the inductive method, the measurement parameters defined were resource consumption, answer time, order number per minute and integrity assurance time of data, in order to be able to obtain the results were applied the comparison technique by using Descriptive Statistics. The tools used to make the analysis were HammerDB, Manage Engine and it was applied a prototype of the web application. The porcentual results of the parameter in relation to the resource consumption of DBMS (Data Base Management System) PostgreSQL was 64,57% and SQL Server got a 80,09%, in the answer time of the DBMS PostgreSQL was 77,84% and SQL Server obtained a 72,20% relative to the order number per minute of the DBMS PostgreSQL was 12% and SQL Server reached to 100% in the integrity assurance time of data of the DBMS PostgreSQL was 3,10% and SQL Server had 100%. Finally, in the results tabulation the DBMS SQL Server got 88% equivalent to excellent and the DBMS PostgreSQL had 39,34% equivalent to regular. It is concluded that the DBMS SQL Server has a better performance in the development of web applications. It is recommended to use DBMS SQL Server in the PYMES(Small and Medium Enterprises) due to the data volume that is administered in these enterprises is not too big.
