Abstract

This research was aimed to analyze the G.984.x standard for deploying a triple-play service access network for the Guano canton's urban area. Field research through surveys determined the feasibility of developing the project in this sector. A literature review was carried out on the series of recommendations that form the standard under study, the deployment of the voice, data, and internet service by fiber optic networks at present. The GPON (Gigabit-capable passive optical networks) network was designed with two-division levels (splitter), implementing an FTTH (Fiber-to-the-home) architecture with tree topology composed of a feeder network, distribution network, and dispersion network, which complies with the physical parameters set out in recommendation G.984.2 class B+ determined the optical balance of the link. The GPON network was simulated with the OptiSystem 7.0 software to validate the network's functioning, considering two critical study points, the user closest and farthest from the OLT. The reception power, factor Q, the wrong bit rate BER, as well as the eye diagram which indicate the link's quality were evaluated, where it was possible to determine that noise tends to increase as the distance increases, jitter, and eye aperture is acceptable because the erroneous bit rate is within the value established by recommendation G.984.2. It is concluded that the designed GPON network is viable and convergent with voice, video, and data services. Therefore, it is recommended that the project is implemented because the same guide offers several services, and the investment recovery period is low.
