Optimización de la infraestructura del municipio de Riobamba para acceder a los servicios informáticos de forma segura y en alta disponibilidad mediante virtualización de servidores y herramientas de software libre.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to optimize the infrastructure of the Municipality of Riobamba to access computer services safely and in high availability through virtualization of study servers and free software tools, for which a diagnosis of the situation of the hardware of the servers was carried out in order to propose an improvement of the technological infrastructure of the institution. To calculate availability, a comparison was made between the infrastructure with physical servers and the infrastructure of virtualized servers with a redundant scheme. The formula that was improved for calculating the availability of services that require to be active and operational 24x7 was the following: The components that intervened in the calculation of the availability of the computer services of the Municipality of Riobamba, are the different servers, firewall, Data Center and the ISP, finding an availability of 69.01% with the initial design and an availability of 99, 53% with the new design proposed and implemented. To verify the hypothesis, the statistical test was obtained on two proportions, specifically; in which a comparison of two proportions is made, where the Ho would be that the proportions are the same (Ho: p1=p2) vs the alternative that the proportion of the treatment without optimization is greater than the proportion with optimization of the infrastructure (H1 : p1 > p2). This is verified for each component. A significance level of 0.08 was used and the area under the normal Walpole curve was obtained. It is concluded that the optimization of the technological infrastructure of the Municipality of Riobamba has allowed access to computer services in a safe and highly available manner, using server virtualization and free software tools.
