Evaluación del Impacto y Plan de Mitigación de los Efectos de Ruido en el Mercado de Productores Mayoristas de Riobamba.

Abstract

"This study deals with monitoring the Noise Levels at the Mercado de Productores Mayorista de Riobamba to identify and determine the afTctation extent to businessmen and workers and propose altemating solutions. This investigation was carried out from May — July 2010 in 90 monitoring points distributed into 7 zones previously established through mapping.

The background noise and the noise measurement was obtained with the type 2 Sonometer which carried out the data collection at 2- minute intervals per point and at 1.30 m from the soil in peak loading and unlcading hours from 5:30 to 9:30 am on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays according to the parameters described in the book VI, Annex 5 of the Environmental Legislation of Ecuador.

""The noise values were beyond the 60 dB (A) permitted by the Actual National Norm. The zone 4 of vehicle mobility recorded 60.8 dB (A); the office zone 7 60,3 dB (A). From the results, itwas determined that in the place there is noise contamination with an average of 60, 6 dB (A) causing stress, migraine, audition and psychological problems.

Bacause of the above, control measures are proposed at the vehicle entrance and exit with the help of the Transit Commission, by placing public advertisements of information and regulations, programming environmental education courses and adopting correction measures sch as acoustic barriers, glass and wood suppors; in offices, by placing auditions isolators and providing the adequate infrastructure diminidhing health risks. The Municipality Authorities and the businessmen organitation are recommended to apply these strategies as soon as possible."
