Programa para el manejo de eventos adversos producto de erupciones volcánicas en el Aeropuerto Internacional Cotopaxi, cantón Latacunga, provincia de Cotopaxi

Abstract

The main objective of the present investigation is to propose a program in case of volcanic eruptions, through the management and timely response against adverse events that interfere with the safety management system of the Cotopaxi International Airport, of the Latacunga canton, Cotopaxi province. The research for the degree work is carried out through a quantitative qualitative methodological approach, which is strictly related to the collection of information in the field, the use of techniques such as semi-structured interviews directed to related authorities in the field, surveys to related social strata with Cotopaxi International Airport and technical record sheets that were the tool to analyze fundamentals related to air safety focused on mitigating adverse events due to volcanic emergencies. The research instruments detailed in this document were a fundamental part of determining an impact and real magnitude of the eruptive scenario; considers the continuous repowering of the safety system, is the device to identify dangers, reduces the impact and manages the risks, thus reaching the theoretical and methodological conclusions that help reduce the consequences both in the air operation and in the airport infrastructure before a imminent eruption of the Cotopaxi volcano, making an axis in technical aspects of safety risk management such as prevention, delegation of authorities and cognitive development in terms of evacuation to geographic areas with a higher level of security around adverse events, thus recommending actions to safeguard the physical and psychological integrity of the population strata related to research.
