Evaluación del proceso de migración de tecnología ADSL a fibra óptica bajo el estándar g.984.x GPON. Caso de estudio Macas, Morona Santiago.

Abstract

Technology migration was assessed ADSL to GPON, under the standard G.984.x, in the Macas city. The implementation of a new system is complex, migration or change from one technology to another; is more complex. According to the legislation in force in Ecuador, all deployment of new telecommunications networks must be buried. It applied surveys to 106 users in the Macas city that used technology ADSL and they were migrated to the new technology GPON. This procedure evaluated the degree of satisfaction between one technology and the other, from the point of view of the users. In addition, a study was carried out using the methodology T-students on the reports of breakdown of the technologies ADSL Y GPON in the period of one year between May 2016 until April 2017. The average K-factor in the technology ADSL is 3.57%, while the K factor in GPON technology is 1.91%, which allows to meet the standard demanded by ARCOTEL. This research paper concludes that the access technology with fiber optic transmission means has better performance than the access technology with copper transmission. It is suggested to the GADS coordinate and lead compliance with legal regulations on the issue of pipelines in the deployments of telecommunications networks.
