Diseño de una ruta de aventura para la parroquia Santa Rosa, cantón Santa Cruz, provincia de Galápagos

Abstract

The current research proposes: to design an adventure route to Santa Rosa parish, Santa Cruz canton in Galapagos province by using a methodological process based on primary and secondary information. Tourist attractions with a big potential to practice diverse adventure sports were assessed and organized hierarchically. Cycle tourism, adventure walk, sea kayaking and snorkeling were assessed with technical criteria according to Regulations of Adventure Tourist Operation Regulations and giving them a degree of difficulty of easy, medium, difficult and very difficult in their grading criteria and/ or physical parameter, with hierarchies I, II, II and IV. The market study analyzes the current situation of the supply-demand tourism system, establishing that there is acceptance to do adventure activities. The technical design of the route proposes to offer 2 competitive and sustainable touristic packages, through equipment information and technical guidelines for each adventure sport practice. The information distribution about the adventure route by using market strategies is determined as well as a participatory-type operation system under a management model of a limited company in which all the partners will have the same rights and obligations in the travel agency is proposed. This legal basis will work to offer the Adventure Route. The environmental study develops mitigation actions to reduce environmental impacts caused by adventure activity. The implementation of the project was determined by the financial study which is profitable due to it reaches an internal rate of return (IRR) of 18% and net present value (NPV) of $ 62665.24, expecting a capital recovery in the fourth year of investment.
