Relación entre la elevación de la alanina aminotransferasa sérica y síndrome metabólico en Club de Diabéticos del Hospital General Enrique Garcés – Quito.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between the evaluation of alanine aminotransferase serum (ALT) and metabolic syndrome in the diabetic club of the General Hospital Enrique Garces in the city of Quito. The study was of transversal type, where the sample size was 69 patients evaluated anthropometrically (weight, height, circumference of the waist and hip), some clinical data were taken (arterial pressure), biochemical (glucose, lipid profile and alanine aminotransferase serum), and it was used the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ); with the informed consent. It was carried out a bivariate analysis of ALT and metabolic syndrome, the data were analyzed in the software JMP 11 and SPSS. In the results was found; 90% female sex, 10% male sex, and with respect to age was obtained a maximum value of 89 years, minimum of 46, and a median of 66 years. It was not found statistically significant differences between the studied variables but a higher average of ALT in people with increased risk, distribution of android body fat, prehypertension and hypertension grade I (systolic pressure), low HDL, normal levels of total cholesterol and triglycerides; and insufficiently active people. In conclusion the ALT is not related to the metabolic syndrome. It is recommended to expand the research with a greater number of people and identify the factors that interfere in the relationship of the variables; as well as, the elaboration of a protocol for the detection and nutritional intervention of the metabolic syndrome.
