Diseño de un centro de interpretación cultural para el cantón Francisco de Orellana, provincia de Orellana

Abstract

The present investigation aims at designing a cultural interpretation center for the Francisco de Orellana community, Orellana province. It will comprises 5 phases. In the first phase, the community heritage resource inventory was validated. Then the interpretative potential was evaluated showing that there is an index of interpretative potential (IPI) of 0,78, which means that the resources have suitable features to be interpreted. In the second phase, the audience analysis was performed determining the tourist acceptance, and likes and preferences related to services and theme. In the third phase, the physical infrastructure was designed. and it will have one floor of 3229,17 ft distributed in 5 totally equipped areas: reception, interpretation, restaurant, craftwork, and restrooms. Based on interactive exhibition, the interpretative media was designed. In the fourth phase, the organization structure was defined, and a manual of procedure and internal regulation for employees was posed. In the fifth phase, net present value (NPV) below 1 (-24 358.55), an internal rate of return (IRR) of 4% that is below the interest rate used: 9.33% and 0.88% USD that is below 1. Therefore, there is not profit. Besides, the proposal is moderately feasible and it will require alliances and strategies with public and private institutions financing the physical infrastructure. The project is feasible.
