Valorización de diferentes niveles de diatomea en el comportamiento productivo de Cavia porcellus (Cuyes) en la fase de crecimiento y engorde

Abstract

In Morona Santiago Province, Sucua Canton, breeding guinea pigs is done in an empirical way with low yields, so three levels of diatoms (1.5, 3.0 and 4.5%) were evaluated, compared to a control treatment (T0), in 48 guinea pigs in Peruvian breed, of 15 days of age and an average weight of 375.96 g, which were distributed under a Completely Randomized Design (CRD), consisting in 6 repetitions, and a size experimental unit of guinea pigs per repetition; the data obtained were analyzed according variance, pursuant to Tukey separation of means (0.05 and 0.01), and regression and correlation analysis. In relation to the results, the treatment T2 (3% of diatom) reached a final weight of 364.50 g, an increase in weight gain of 624.08 g; the most efficient feed conversion of 6.66, the lowest total food consumption was with the T1 (1.5%) of 4113.05g MS. It was determined that with the T3 treatment (4.5%) the parasitic load of 56.86% that was at the beginning of the experiment was reduced to 4.90% after 90 days. The highest profitability registered the treatment T2 (3% of diatom) with a benefit / cost of 1.19 which means that for every dollar invested there is a return of 0.19 dollars (USD). It is suggested, to apply in the stage of growth - fattening the 3% of diatoms for guinea pigs in daily diet, that dose turns out to be the best when considering the productive and economic parameters.
