Influencia de las mediciones lineales en las variables biométricas en toretes de la raza angus del estado de Chihuahua – México

Abstract

In the state of Chihuahua, in the Regional Livestock Union of Chihuahua-Mexico, different linear and biometric measurements were taken in 32 Angus young bulls of 12 months of age, with an approximate weight of 350 kg. The data was analyzed using the IBM SPSS v21 statistical package. , and we got the averages, the standard deviation, , the correlation regression of the different variables studied. The results showed an average of the thoracic perimeter of 179.95 cm, 186.56 cm of abdominal perimeter, 60.47 cm of neck length127.47 cm of body length, 43.56 cm of hip length; 187.94 cm total length, 47.63 cm hip width, 47.03 shoulder width, 122.04 height at the hip, 116.46 cm height at the withers. . Regarding the biometric variables, an average scrotal circumference of 34, 97cm and 852.82cm 〖cm〗 ^ 3 of testicular volume was reported, highlighting that, when comparing the scrotal circumference with the ideal of the race 15.3% is within the optimum range, 28.13% at a tolerable level, objectionable 9.38; undesirable 21.88% and unacceptable 25.00%. Regarding the correlations, a high correlation (r> 0.8) was found between the scrotal circumference and the width of the hip (r = 0.91) and shoulder width (r = 0.88). For this reason, it is recommended to conduct similar studies in the country, with zoomometric measurements, to know the animal development through time.
