Diseño de un sistema de prevención y defensa contra incendios en base a la normativa NFPA para todas las áreas de la Empresa Calzado Gamo`s ubicada en la Provincia de Tungurahua.

Abstract

The main objective of the present work is the design of a fire protection system, based on NFPA regulations for all areas of the GAMO’S footwear company located in the province of Tungurahua. To carry out the design, we first analyzed the current situation of the company in terms of fire safety, in order to detect deficiencies and establish the design parameters of the system. Secondly, the fire risk was evaluated through the Meseri method, present in the company in order to determine the level of risk and the acceptability of the risk. Finally, the fire protection system was designed based on the results obtained in the current situation analysis, the risk assessment and based on compliance with the NFPA standards. Through the current situation analysis, it was determined that the fire safety of the company is deficient because it has insufficient fire extinguishers. In addition, the type of fire and the probability of fire were determined in all areas of the company. As for the fire risk assessment by the Meseri method was determined to be a Serious Risk Not Acceptable. With this background and based on the NFPA regulations, a fire sprinkler system was designed in the company’s finished product warehouses because in these areas the fire probability is high and the fire type is Class A. in addition, calculation and distribution of fire extinguishers in areas of the company with low-medium fire probability and fire type Class A, B and C.
