Relación entre el estado nutricional de la madre y peso del niño al nacer en el Hospital Pablo Arturo Suarez Quito 2012

Abstract

The relationship between the mother´s nutritional status and weight of the boy when being born in the hospital “Pablo Arturo Suarez” was studied, during 6 months. The study was not experimental, of traverse type; where 89 mothers in period of gestation participated, between 13 and 44 years of age, with an average of year-old age; the mother´s variables nutritional status were analyzed by means of the IMC initial and final gestation according to the securities of charts of CLAP and weight of the boy when being born; a descriptive analysis was carried out, and bi-variable to establish the prevalence of determinants and its association with the variable effect. The statistical tests of significance that were used were squared Chi and ANOVA. As results of the nutritional status at the beginning of the pregnancy the following diagnoses were obtained: 59.6% normal, 18.0% overweight, and 10.1% lower weight. At the end of the pregnancy the nutritional status was 27% lower weight, 27% of normal, 34.8% with obesity, and 11.2% with overweight. The neonatal weight was of 1.470g as minimum and 3.800g as maximum, with an average of 2.972g. The relationships among the initial nutritional status (p=0.093), final (p= 0.11) of the mother with the weight of the boy when being born were not statistically significant, so the hypothesis of the existence of a relationship between the mother´s nutritional status and the weight of the boy when being born is rejected.
