Guía de prevención de accidentes dirigida a los adultos mayores del Hogar La Sagrada Familia. Lago Agrio. Diciembre 2014 – mayo 2015.

Abstract

The present investigation had as main aim to elaborate a guide of preventing of accidents directed to the elderly people, the mentioned work was made in the Senior Center La Sagrada Familia from the canton Lago Agrio, Province of Sucumbios, and had a duration of 6 months; the study was of descriptive and transversal type, in which the characteristics of the elderly people were described and the factors of vulnerability to which are exposed. In the gerontologic center exists more men than women, 14 elderly people are internal and 26 are external, 10% have suffered of fallings, a 72.5% suffers of vision and hearing loss. In relation to the characteristics of the center; currently, it could be mentioned that this does not account with a physician, permanently; the services and the activities inside the place are of the excellent quality. Related to the facilities in there could be observed that the restroom do not have handles, the place is of one flat that is why stairs are not observed, their floors are combined, they are provided with all the basic services, it was known that a medical brigade visit the elderly people once a month and share with them educational moments for the development of every elderly person. The guide of preventing of accidents is considered that will be of usefulness for the elderly people both men and women of the center, since it will contribute to the improvement of the life conditions of the same; creating respect for safety standards , and raising awareness about the risks that may exist within the center. As recommendations would be of great utility to incorporate handles in the restrooms, implement guarding services and continue with the educational moments, on this way keep promoting healthy and safe behaviors inside the Senior Center La Sagrada Familia.
