Evaluación de Impacto Ambiental y Plan de Manejo Ambiental del Proyecto: “Malecón Escénico Laguna de Colta” Cantón Colta, Provincia de Chimborazo

Abstract

This research aims to predict and evaluate potencial impacts associated with construction and operation of scenic seawall project Colta Lake. The review of the legal framework was made, a description of the existing environmental conditions, and the project components. The modified Leopold matrix was performed by analyzing the observations of the public consultation process and design of prevention measures, mitigation that includes specific actions to proyect the population and the environment. 214 effective interactions were identified, were observed in the area of direct influence as a result of the development of the project activities, result of the interaction of 13 actions and 23 environmental indicators. By assessing impacts, a numerical value of -4140 units was obtained, that represents a negative percentage impact of -14.96 %, which means that will have a negative impact on the lake ecosystem. 71 mitigation and compensation actions are recommended, which will be implemented by the entities responsible for the management and control of the project in 15 communities in the watershed of Colta Lake.
