Diseño y construcción de un mezclador para la obtención de crema solar

Abstract

The objective of the research is the design and construction of a mixer for the elaboration of sun cream in the laboratory of Industrial Processes of the School of Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Sciences of the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo. For the design of the equipment, the equations of the mixer that were used in the correct design of the equipment and its operation were determined, we proceeded to the correct formulation of the cream, carrying out four pilot tests in weekly periods during one month, from the correct formulation we obtained results of: density = 884 kg/m3 , viscosity = 6.43 kg/ms, optimum mixing temperature = 65˚C, pH = 5.4 the same that allowed the sizing of the equipment consisting of a cylindrical mixer with an anchor type agitator with inclined flat blades, ranging from 30 - 250 rpm. A mixer with an efficiency of 85% and a yield of 90.9% was obtained, so it is concluded that the product obtained is of good quality and can be used as a base cream in different cosmetic industries. It is recommended that the mixer with the characteristics obtained be used for the production of sunscreen and other creams.
