Elaboración y control de calidad de un gel astringente a base de Costus spicatus, fFcus carica, Salvia officinalis

Abstract

The objective of the research is the elaboration and quality control of the after shave gel with sour cane (Costus spicatus), fig (ficus carica) and royal sage (Salvia officinalis) as vegetable extracts, the method used for the elaboration and quality control was experimental, searching for the most adequate formulations for an appropriate product and checking its effect. To elaborate the gel, quality cosmetic raw material was used, rabbits where the activity was tested and vegetable extracts substituted in the formulation. The ethanolic extract by maceration, pressed cane juice and acquired essential oil. The gel is obtained by mixing 15% carbopol in hot distilled water and 0.2% fig extract, sour cane juice and sage essential oil. Rabbits(10) of the New Zealand type were selected and their fur was shaved prior to the analysis. Once the gel was applied, it was measured at 1,2,4,24,48 hours, to the same group of rabbits, the same in the control product (Temptation-Yanbal), observing positive results with progressive decrease of irritability and astringent activity in selected areas. It was determined that the application is adequate being the best result the gel mixture of extracts giving a value of 1.0425 and the other formulations vary from 1.2 to 1.4 confirming better formulation in the experimentation. Including the control gel (Temptation Yambal). A further study of the extracts is recommended to check their properties and evaluate their activity in experimental animals, interpolating the use in people recognizing their effects for the acceptance of the product.
