Diseño y Aplicación de un Protocolo Farmacoterapéutico para Control de Interacciones Medicamentosas en el Area de Consulta Externa del Hospital Pediátrico Alfonso Villagómez - Riobamba

Abstract

Design and Application of a Pharmacotherapeutic Protocol for the Control of Drug Interactions in the Outpatient Area of the Pediatric Hospital Alfonso Villagomez-Riobamba. The Methods used were the Deductive Method which allowed us to analyze the data collected with the help of the Clinical Histories, surveys, interviews, Pharmacotherapeutic Profile and the respective Follow-up to the patients, Analytical Method which consisted in the investigation of a problem, This method allowed us to learn more about the problem and establish solutions, the study was conducted in 300 patients in the period May-November 2011, the materials used were medical records, surveys, interviews, pharmacotherapeutic profile, computer, printer, copier, flash memory, digital camera, telephone, spheres. As a result, 200 patients underwent Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up, of which 70 patients presented Drug-Drug Interaction, among which we have Drug-Drug 52%, Drug-Food 35%, while Drug-Plant Interaction 12%, Subsequently, the Pharmacotherapeutic Protocol was applied to 100 patients who were evaluated and underwent Pharmacotherapeutic Follow-up, obtaining as a result a decrease in the number of Interactions during the period September-November 2011, Drug-Drug Interaction 3%, Drug-Food Interaction 2%, Drug-Plant Interaction 1%, and 94% did not present any Interaction. I conclude by saying that the application of the Protocol for the Control of Drug-Drug Interactions contributed positively to the patient's health. It is recommended that the method be permanently implemented in the Alfonso Villagomez Pediatric Hospital in the city of Riobamba, and that similar systems be implemented in the different areas of the Hospital.
