Elaboración de una guía de manejo de la medicina natural de plantas anticonceptivas existentes en el cantón Arajuno, provincia de Pastaza - 2011

Abstract

In the present investigation "A guide for the management of natural medicine of existing contraceptive plants in the Arajuno canton, province of Pastaza" was elaborated, with the purpose of counteracting the accelerated proliferation in the family population of Arajuno, thus improving the quality of life, health and strengthening the economy of the inhabitants. Taking advantage of the ancestral and cultural knowledge of the Kichwa nationality, the research process was based on statistical studies carried out in institutions such as: Arajuno health sub-center, midwives' guild and a survey of a population of 10 shamans and 100 women who applied and used natural contraceptive medicine. The plants investigated were: female ginger, subtle lemon, guineo leaf, avocado leaf and yawarikaspi plant. As a result of the research, three of the five plants were the most effective and usual: (Subtle lemon - Citrus aurantifolia) 70 %, (Guineo leaf - Musa sapientum) 80 %, (Female ginger - Zingiber officinale) 60 %, allowing the construction of a guide for use. With this research is to promote and contribute to the families of Arajuno to strengthen the health and household economy, prior a guide to the management of natural medicine of contraceptive plants, recommending to women and population of this sector, the proper use of contraceptive plants and the dissemination, promotion of this document, as a means of environmental education and a true indigenous health system.
