Determinación de la actividad hepatoprotectora de boldo (Peumus boldus) en ratas (Ratus novergicus) con intoxicación hepática inducida por paracetamol

Abstract

In the laboratory of Natural Products and the Biotherium of the School of Biochemistry and Pharmacy - ESPOCH. An investigation was carried out with the objective of determining the hepatoprotective activity of Boldo leaves in rats, with hepatotoxicity induced by paracetamol. Boldo extract was used and quality control and phytochemical screening were performed. Rats were divided into 3 groups called: GA, GB, GC who received the extract at a concentration of 100%, 66% and 33% respectively for 9 days, on the seventh day paracetamol was administered. ASAT and ALAT tests were performed and the livers were extracted for histopathological analysis. The ANOVA test was used for data analysis. In the phytochemical screening, alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolic compounds, and triterpenes were found. In the ASAT and ALAT test in the GA group were elevated by an average of 0.7% of the normal value; GB increased by 46% and GC by 85.7%. In histopathological examination GA had 10% liver destruction, GB 50% and GC 85%. In the statistical analysis it was found that transaminases are in direct proportion to hepatic destruction. Boldo is hepatoprotective since in the transaminase tests and in the histopathological examination a slight hepatic damage was evidenced with high doses of the extract. It is recommended to elaborate a pharmaceutical form based on boldo to be used as a coadjuvant treatment in people with hepatic diseases.
