Diseño de signos gráficos representativos de la ruta fe, historia y tradiciones de la ciudad de Riobamba.

Abstract

The city of Riobamba does not have a representative graphic sign system of the Route faith, history and traditions, which identifies it as a visual representation, this directly affects both tourists and residents because it is not possible to identify and fully appreciate the heritage architecture, therefore, the aim of this research was to design the representative graphic signs of the route faith, history and traditions of city of Riobamba from an analysis of symbology and characteristic elements to enhance the identity of the city in a context of semiotic representation. This methodology is a quali-quantitative research, the quantitative point of view was carried out a technical detailed analysis to identify the attractions of the route, with the help of technical, semiotic and bibliographic cards that were used in the recurrent graphic analysis such as proportions. On the qualitative point of view we carried out an exhaustive research of bibliographic, historical and cultural sources to interpret each attraction mentioned along the route, in addition, we executed a bibliographic and field research to identify the main heritage elements of the city in the context of the representative route. We have identified by means of this methodology that sections 2 and 3 in the historical downtown of Riobamba, which are part of the Route of Faith, History and Traditions of the city of Riobamba, lack attractive graphic signs that also have the necessary characteristics to be an attractive visual representation. We conclude that a proposal to improve the graphic signs will increase the identity of the community by enhancing the patrimonial attractions through the design and application of improved techniques based on semiotics.
