Abstract

This research aimed to design and implement the rules of the internal management of medications to control the crash cart of unemployment in the Geriatric Hospital of Doctor Bolívar Argüello P. through an observational, cross-sectional, descriptive non-experimental study. This research executes through the development of the following phases: 1) evaluation of the actual conditions of the institution using techniques such as observation, survey, and check sheet. 2) Design of the standardized operating procedure according to the needs and reality of the hospital. 3) socialization of the SOP with the hospitalization and emergency service staff 4) Approval and legalization of the SOP. In the evaluation, it determined that the care units did not comply with the parameters established in the current regulations, highlighting a non-compliance of 60.7% regarding driving, 62.5% of non-compliance in the infrastructure of the stop crash cart unit, and 72% of non-compliance in the control of medicines and medical devices. Based on these results, corrective actions were applied, which consisted of preparing the SOP, socializing the document, and training the staff. A signage system was adapted as indicated in the Ministry of Public Health manuals, which generates a better organization, in addition to having the documents where the activities related to handling, control, and maintenance records. It recommends monitoring and keeping the SOP updated with the suggestions of the pharmacotherapy committee and managing the acquisition of crash carts that comply with ISO 9001 / 13485 to offer a quality service.
