Efecto de una fuente de ácido butírico sobre los parámetros productivos de terneras holstein en fase predestete en la hacienda “San Agustín"

Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of butyric acid on the productive parameters of Holstein calves in the pre-weaning phase at San Agustin Inn in Pichincha Province. The experimental units used were 45 Holstein calves 5 days old until weaning, which were given a source of butyric acid in milk with two treatments:2.5 g/animal/day and 5 g/animal/day versus a control treatment. A completely randomized design (CRD) was applied, with 15 replications for each treatment. The results obtained in this research were tabulated in the Excel Office 2016 program and the analysis of variance (ADEVA) using statistical software. The statistical techniques analyzed were: analysis of variance (ADEYA), separation of means according to Duncan's test (p<0.05) and descriptive statistics. When evaluating the productive behavior of the calves, the supplementation of the butyric acid source in the milk presented highly significant differences in the final weight, the weight with the highest results was T2 (5 gr). Obtaining up to 94.20 kg and a weight gain of 58.20 kg, the digestive and respiratory alterations improved notably, presenting an average of 64.8 and 65.4 days respectively in normal state without diarrhea and without cough, with the application of the product achieving a lower incidence of these alterations. It was recommended lo use T2, which obtained better results in all variables.
