Aplicación móvil de la guía turística del cantón Riobamba en función a la aplicación maps.me.

Abstract

The objective of this technical project is to develop a touristic guide which includes the most important attractions and touristic routes from Riobamba Canton, based on the Maps.Me application, which will allow the promotion and diffusion of these attractions. The application Maps.Me was determined as feasible for the creation and implementation touristic guides and routes. Establishing as a public objective to tourists in a range of age from 20 to 45 years of Spanish speaking people with knowledge about technology. For the compilation of imformation about the attractions, the database of the Tourism Management Directorate was accessed, through the research of primary and secondary sources such as the survey and the inteview with the technicians of the Tourism Management Directorate for its delimitation. Subsequently, 27 places and 6 routes were selected as the most important in the whole canton, distributed in three zones: urban, rural, and adventure, and a photographic bank of these places was made. The photographs were selected and organized in cards with technical details of photography, as well as a synthesized description of each place. For the development of the guide, the Design Thinking methodology was used, essential for innovation and process improvement, and is also suitable for the design of mobile applications. Once the tourist guide was completed, it was implemented in the Maps.Me application, with the name of official Riobamba 2020 for its download and installation. Finally, a usability test of mobile applications of the tourist guide in the Maps.Me application was carried out for the technicians from the Tourism Management Directorate, obtaining 85% acceptance for its implementation, thus defining the tourist guide as an optimal technological tool to promote local tourism.
