Abstract

Globalization of culture, the use of internet and social networks, the lack of reading and the missing of illustrations, make teenagers be attracted by foreign celebrations such as Halloween, Santa Claus, among others. Therefore, it is essential to spread and promote the collective memory of towns or cities that, due to the lack of interest of visual communicators, designers and illustrators, are being forgotten. The aim of this research is a proposal directed to an adolescent audience of 15 to 17 years of age, to recover the cultural identity of the youth from Riobamba, through the diffusion of the traditional legends from the canton, so that they can become interested in their customs. There is not enough quality graphic and didactic material about the legends that attract the attention of young people and generate expectation. One way to introduce culture to the new generations is to encourage the learning of traditional legends through an interactive and innovative system, showing the main characters in textile supports, which will allow to learn more about the physical and behavioral characteristics of these legendary beings. Using the digital illustration technique, the characters have been created with the Japanese sleeve style, with sublimation printing and DTF printing techniques, on textile supports. Seven T-shirts, seven hooded sweatshirts, seven pullovers and six polyester ribbon bracelets were printed, among which we can highlight the 6 legends from Riobamba which are:. The Lutheran, The Chuzalongo, The Headless from Riobamba, Kultacucha or lagoon of Colta, Magdalena Davalos, and the cemetery chair, highlighting a final composition of each legend and also, a general composition of them.
