Evaluación de la actividad fotoprotectora de una crema a base de buddleja incana en la especie cavia porcellus

Abstract

The aim of this experimental work was to evaluate the photoprotective activity of a cream based on Buddleja incana in the specie Cavia porcellus. The leaves of the plant species were washed, dried, crushed and pulverized to obtain a 70% alcoholic extract, the maceration of the plant extract was put into a darkened chamber then the product was filtered and taken to the Rotavapor during one hour at a constant temperature and speed under vacuum conditions to obtain the final extract with which, the Beeler's Base formulation was made, this was prepared in two phases; the aqueous and oily using water bath at a certain temperature, then each component was dissolved until its melting point, forming the Beeler's Base. A strict handling protocol was used with the guinea pig using the "Mexameter", the back area was shaved and the guinea pig was placed in the clamp, applying less than one gram of the cream prepared at three different concentrations, taking 3 measurements from the irradiation on the back of the guinea pig. Anova statistical analysis was performed using the values found, Dunnet's method was used, calculating the SPF by means of the respective formula using the Minimum Erythematogenic Dose with protection and without protection, obtaining that the best cream is C1 corresponding to 0.4% with an SPF value of 1.64; interpreting it to a value of 59.54 demonstrating its effectiveness compared to the commercial brands available in the market with 11%. It was concluded that the plant species Buddleja incana contains photoprotective, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity, after controlled radiation between 290-320 nm on the back of the specie Cavia porcellus. It is recommended to use guinea pigs whose skin coloration is light so that the photoprotective effects of the formulation be more visible.
