Revisión sistemática de la teoría APOE para los últimos semestres de la carrera de matemática de la ESPOCH

Abstract

The aim of the current research was to elaborate a systematic review from 2015 to 2021, to show the current status of the research on APOS (Action, Process, Object and Schema) theory. The research was quantitative type, with a descriptive scope, due to the use of descriptive statistics to show the results of fifteen research questions proposed. The survey technique was used, which was focused on the students in the last four semesters of the Mathematics career at Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo (ESPOCH) during the academic period October 2021 - March 2022. It was also necessary to review scientific articles in the following search engines: Web of Science, Google Scholar, SCOPUS and SCIELO. In addition, equivalent search strings were used, depending on the search engine. The survey sought information regarding affiliation, year of publication, authors of the articles, authors affiliated to Ecuadorian institutions, software characterization, language, country, journal, subjects related to mathematics, semester, mental structures, genetic decomposition, mental mechanisms and the existence of systematic reviews on APOS theory. As results, 287 scientific articles were obtained in which the exclusion criteria were applied, obtaining 123 scientific articles for the study. The existence of a Latin American author who participated in more than 18 scientific articles was evidenced. On the other hand, linear algebra is the subject with a higher use of APOS theory. There are no systematic reviews on APOS theory or Ecuadorian authors. It is concluded that this work, as well as the web page created, could be useful for mathematics didactics. Thus, when writing a scientific article in English, it is recommended to publish it in the Journal of Mathematical Behavior, since it was the main journal where most of the scientific articles were published.
