Evaluación de sustratos y métodos pre- germinativos para la propagacion sexual de Swietenia macrophylla KING, en el cantón San Miguel de los Bancos, provincia de Pichincha.

Abstract

This study presented the evaluation of three substrates and two pre-germinative treatments for the sexual propagation of mahogany (Swietenia macrophylla) in San Miguel de los Bancos, Pichincha Province. To carry out the project a nursery of 3 meters wide and 6 meters long was built, the substrates used are: Peat, agricultural soil and river sand, while the pre-germinative treatments were: water at room temperature of San Miguel de los Bancos for 24 and 48 hours, the statistical method of Completely Randomized Block Design (DBCA) bifactorial was used, the distribution of treatments was done in 3 blocks where each had 8 treatments of 15 observational units, the variables that were evaluated are: Germination, height in centimeters (cm), DAC of the neck of the seedling in millimeters (mm), the number of leaves that each seedling had, data were taken 30, 45, 60 and 75 days after planting of each of the variables, the benefit/cost ratio was made, in order to know if it is a project that has profitability. The results were gotten through tabulation and graphic representation of the data, at 45 days there was a 95.05% germination rate with no significant differences, the best data for height were obtained with T4, T6 and T7, for the DAC at the neck of the seedling was T7, for the number of leaves the best were with T6 and T3, and the best for the benefit/cost ratio was T2 with a Benefit/Cost ratio of 1.70, this indicates that for every dollar invested I am getting a profit of 0.70 cents. It is concluded by saying that at least one of the substrates and pre-germinative treatments influences the growth of mahogany, and that the project is profitable.
