Abstract

The objective of the present work is to present the clinical case of a 26-year-old patient, mixed race ethnicity, without a personal history of interest, who goes to the emergency service of the Provincial General Teaching Hospital Riobamba with acute abdominal pain clinic, located in the fossa iliac and right flank, without other accompanying symptoms. It is classified as an acute abdomen of presumed gynecological origin but the clinical and laboratory and imaging test do not allow clarifying the diagnosis. Due to the urgency of the condition, it is decided to subject the patient to exploratory laparotomy, during the transoperative period it is obtained as findings: broken right ovarian tumor, left ovarian tumor and 200cc hemoperitoneum, samples are sent for histopathological analysis and the diagnosis is obtained of mature cystic teratoma in right and left ovaries. Bilateral salpingoophorectomy and epiploon biopsy are performed, but it is decided persevere the uterus due to the patient´s age and harbor the possibility of a future pregnancy through in-vitro fertilization. Finally, the surgery was performed without complication, the patient progresses favorably during the inmediate postoperative period and three days after the surgery, discharge and follow-up are decided by external gynecology consultation.
