Diabetes mellitus tipo LADA

Abstract

This study describes the study of Diabetes Mellitus type LADA with the presentation of a clinical case of the IESS Latacunga Basic Hospital, in the case of a 41-year-old man, who goes to control by external consultation of general medicine evidencing fasting glucose of 370.80 mg/dl, so he is inter-consulted with endocrinology specialist who decides his admission for diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of his hyperglycaemia, upon admission the hemodynamically stable patient, vital signs within normal parameters, with a body mass index of 25.5 kg / m2 (overweight), also in his hospital stay he refers to not having a family history or a history of abdominal trauma that makes us think about the origin of his diabetes, therefore, antibody tests are sent to rule out or assert immune-type diabetes. Upon receiving the results, the antibodies (anti-GAD) have the value of 47 Ul/ml, positive for LADA type diabetes; after his discharge in his first patient control, he goes through routine exams within normal parameters, the therapeutic scheme of insulin therapy is continued, also, the patient has a healthy lifestyle, which favours the reduction of complications of the disease, improving their quality of life. This describes pathology is rare and difficult to be diagnosed, so the differences between type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus should be taken into account.
