Descripción anatómica de la madera de tres especies forestales procedentes del cantón Chunchi provincia de Chimborazo.

Abstract

This research aimed to anatomically describe the wood of three forest species from Chunchi Town (Chimborazo province) in order to provide technical information on the organoleptic and anatomical characteristics of the wood. For dendrological identification, specimens found in the herbarium of the Escuela Superior Politécnica de Chimborazo were used. Test tubes 2 cm thick x 9 cm wide x 15 cm long were made to determine the organoleptic characteristics by observing the color, smell, flavor, veining, grain, texture, and brightness of the samples. For the determination of the anatomical characteristics, 2 x 2 x 2 cm cubes were obtained, which went through a softening process in the Autoclave, placing glass jars with distilled water and covered with aluminum foil in cycles of approximately 20 minutes at 127 ºC and 1.48 atm pressure, then histological sections were made with the help of a 0.5 mm gouge, obtaining 0.3-micron samples. After that, we proceeded to the staining process of the samples where safranin, astra blue, and the combination of the two were used in a 1:1 ratio, performing repetitions for each species of 10, 15, and 20 seconds respectively, once the plates were assembled, they were he was able to identify all the anatomical structures in the three slices. It was concluded that the three species under study belong to different families. It was recommended to carry out studies in relation to the aromas presented by the species of Myrcianthes rhopaloides (Kunth) commonly known as myrtle.
