Diagnóstico, tratamiento y prevención de endometritis de vacas Holstein en el post parto temprano de la hacienda Pucate.

Abstract

The objective was to diagnose, treat and prevent endometritis in early postpartum Holstein cows at Hacienda Pucate. The research used descriptive statistics for the identification of bacteria and antibiotic efficiency and for the analysis of the variables total diameter of the uterus, endometrial wall, endometrial lumen and volume, student's T analysis was used. The result for the total diameter of the uterus was 20.97 mm at 20 days post partum before receiving the treatment and 15.175 mm at 35 days post partum. The endometrial lumen values were 4.285 mm (20 days post partum) and 1.5575 mm (35 days post partum). Several bacterial species belonging to 3 different genera were obtained from the isolates: Echerichia coli, (50%), Enterococcus fecalis (35%), Staphylococcus aureus (5%). The sensitivities of bacteria to antibiotics indicate a sensitivity of (44%) certiofur, amoxicillin (20%), followed by gentamicin (17%), trimetropin sulfa (11%). It is concluded in this study that the bacteria mainly isolated were E. coli, Enterococcus fecalis and Staphylococcus aureus, according to their susceptibility it is suggested that the first line antibiotics for the treatment of these bacteria are Ceftiofur, amoxicillin and gentamicin. The application of this method is suggested because it has shown that ultrasound diagnosis is a technique of high accuracy, reliability, specificity and sensitivity in the early determination of subclinical endometritis.
