Abstract

The objective of this project was to analyze the behavior of the factory shock absorbers of an M1 vehicle compared to two alternate ones, one national and one imported. Through laboratory tests carried out under the JASO C611 Standard to evaluate the quality of the national product compared to the imported product. The study of the shock absorbers was carried out simulating working conditions through the Dynoshock 11 test bench located at the Centro de Fomento Productivo Metal Mecánico Carrocero. Three phases were proposed for the test, the two phases correspond to five tests with a fixed speed of 50, 100, 300, 600, and 1000 mm/s. The third phase is a variable speed test in which all fixed speeds are executed consecutively. These tests were carried out under the JASO C611 standard. It regulates shock absorbers taking into account the values of maximum forces in compression and extension. Excel and Statgraphics software were used for the statistical analysis of the data, resulting in a significant difference between the damping forces generated by each shock absorber. However, there is no significant statistical difference between their working temperature. In addition to the fact that only one shock absorber meets the requirements established by the regulations. It is recommended to continue with the studies regarding shock absorbers taking into account that there is a great variety of brands, to know and evaluate the distributed product in the automotive market.
