Evaluación de las características de tipo y producción en vacas holstein de la hacienda Nápoles.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to evaluate the type and production traits in Holstein cows from Hacienda Napoles in the province of Cañar, the experimental units with which we worked were 30 Holstein cows in the production stage, which were subjected to the linear evaluation of the 21 type traits of the breed, both best scored traits such as: stature, strength, rump angle and width, coxofemoral position, teat length, hoof angle, lateroot and hind leg view, animal capacity, anterior teat placement, angularity, locomotion, udder inclination and low scoring traits such as: udder depth, posterior udder height, medial suspensory ligament, posterior udder width, subsequent to said evaluation we proceeded to carry out the correlation study between the type variables with the production variables by means of Pearson's correlation coefficient, the results of the quantitative variables were: 7.46; 8; 5; 4.90; 4.63; 5; 7.56; 4.90; 8; 7.23; 5; 7.33; 4.33; points respectively, the characteristics with lower scores were: 5.40; 6.86; 6.50; 7.10; points respectively. The correlation of the characteristics of type with production showed that the variables valued are independent. It was concluded that the establishment should select bulls that maintain the positive characteristics of the evaluated cows. It is recommended that the establishment should have in the herd functional specimens.
