Diseño de un programa de manejo del aviturismo para el aprovechamiento sostenible del refugio de vida silvestre Pasochoa.

Abstract

This research proposes: to design a bird watching management program for the sustainable use of the "Pasochoa" Wildlife Refuge: through the use of experimental and application methods and using bibliographic and field research techniques to gather information. The present work was carried out in three stages: the first one corresponds to the determination of the avifaunistic potential of the Refuge, which using an ornithological inventory identified 102 species of birds, which were recorded through counting points and online transects; biodiversity studies allowed the identification of areas with high potential for carrying out this activity, and the potential index for bird watching and their alertness and flight distances were determined, thus establishing maximum ranges of approach. The second, through the market study, the current situation of the attractions, activities, infrastructure, plant and potential tourist demand that would be willing to carry out activities related to bird watching was analyzed. In the third, the strategic framework is built by establishing axes that mediate for biodiversity conservation, heritage interpretation, local development and tourism strengthening; this is how six subprograms and 14 projects are structured, with a total investment of US S 252,050.00; finally, the operational planning for the implementation of the management program is established, which consists of activities to be carried out for each project with a period of five years. The bird watching management program establishes guidelines for the promotion of birdlife and the protection of birdlife present in the area. It recommends that the administrating governments of the area follow up on the proposed subprograms.
