Potencialidad zootécnica productiva de la cría del paiche (Arapaima gigas) en la Amazonía ecuatoriana.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to analyze the technical information in academic networks on the paiche fish (Arapaima gigas) and the opportunities offered by its exploitation for the dynamization of the agroecosystems of the Amazon. Based on the bibliographic references of the main repositories in academic Google and Scielo, the paiche fish (Arapaima gigas) is a species that inhabits the Amazon basin that has very good characteristics in terms of its rusticity, adaptability, and resistance to diseases. The species can measure up to 3 meters with a weight of 200 to 300 kg. It also has excellent nutritional properties with a higher protein content and a minimum amount of fat, which makes it an ideal food for humans. According to the results obtained with the water quality, this species needs an average temperature of 26.57 ° C, a pH of 6.32 and a precipitation of 4500 mm. Regarding the nutritional composition of paiche meat, it has an average humidity of 57.97%, total proteins of 29.63%, crude fat 2.15%, carbohydrates 1.4%, mineral salts 24.5% and energy value 1.47%. In conclusion, the opportunity to produce this species in greater quantity is profitable, since it can be used 100%, implementing it as an Amazonian fish for human consumption and thus increasing the country's economy.
