Estudio de necesidades de transporte intracantonal, en el cantón Pallatanga, provincia de Chimborazo

Abstract

The objective of the degree work was to elaborate a feasibility study to satisfy the need for intra-cantonal transportation service in the canton of Pallatanga, province of Chimborazo, through a diagnosis of the current situation that allowed establishing the technical guidelines and a proposal for the implementation of a new intra-cantonal public transportation system in the canton. For the collection of information, origin-destination surveys were applied to the population to find out the most used mode of transportation, the frequency of use, and the existing unsatisfied demand in the canton; in addition, an interview was conducted with the head of the Land Transportation, Transit and Road Safety Unit of the canton. A route design was carried out and the dimensioning of the fleet with which the number of units and the operational speed necessary to satisfy the canton's needs were established. It was concluded that in the canton of Pallatanga there is no intracantonal public transportation and 8 units are required, distributed in four routes. It is recommended that the Land Transportation, Transit and Road Safety Unit of Pallatanga Canton take this research into account, in addition to conducting a study of bus stops before the implementation of the service, to provide the necessary security to users and that they meet the requirements established in the relevant regulations
