Análisis comparativo del consumo de combustible (gasolina) en distintas marcas de vehículos con similar cilindraje

Abstract

In this research, a comparative analysis of fuel consumption of three different brands of vehicles with similar displacement was carried out, with the purpose of identifying which vehicle consumes less fuel using Ecopaís gasoline. This leads to identify the performance, consumption in each of the cars and therefore the amount of money invested. Three route tests were carried out for each vehicle, the established route was CAÑAR-CUENCA - GUALACEO-CAÑAR with a distance of 156 km, the selected vehicles were: Chevrolet Aveo Activo, Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Veloster taking into account some factors such as: weather, speed, the same cylinder capacity and driving cycle. It is worth mentioning that each of these factors vary by a small percentage from one car to another. Once all the tests were completed, all the information obtained was entered into an Excel sheet to determine some variables such as: consumption, performance, money invested and some graphs for interpretation. In order to get results closer to reality, the driving cycles for each vehicle in each of the tests and some factors that involve consumption must be controlled exactly. Once the tests were completed, the vehicle that consumes the least amount of fuel is the Chevrolet Aveo with a consumption of 69.54 km/gallon, the Toyota Corolla 60.90 km/gallon and the Hyundai Veloster 44.88 km/gallon, due to the technology of each vehicle, weight and aerodynamic drag coefficient, torque and power. It is recommended to test on roads with steeper grades to better appreciate the difference in consumption.
