Propuesta de un plan reciclaje de aceites lubricantes de uso automotriz recopilados en talleres y lubricadoras en el cantón Riobamba

Abstract

In this research, it was carried out a study of waste oil management and alternatives were proposed in a recycling plan for car repair shops quick lube service bays in Riobamba city. Through an interview with the municipal government, which is in charge of managing the control of these pollutants. Information on the number of registered establishments was obtained using surveys to the owners of car repair shops, quick lube service bays. A sample size of 100 establishments was visited along a traced route to collect information on the number of establishments, including quick lube service bays and mechanics infrastructure, applied regulations, if they fulfill current regulations, and the final destination of the waste. It was found that 62% of the establishments correspond to quick lube service bays. Only 10% of them are clean, and there are no leaks on the floor. 15% know the final destination. 21% of these wastes are removed by informal people who do not follow norms or laws. Such as the obtained results, a proposal was presented to control these wastes, since automotive establishments in Riobamba do not currently comply with the Municipal Ordinance. It was determined that there is disinformation of owners and employees about waste oil management within the establishments. It is recommended to implement plans to inform about waste management and use methods of automotive oil providing economic, technical, and environmental solutions.
