Diseño e implementación de un sistema de gestión de seguridad y salud en el trabajo en la Planta Avícola “JENGLE” ubicado en el cantón Chambo

Abstract

The objective of this degree research was to design and implement an occupational health and safety management system in the JENGLE poultry plant located in Chambo canton to improve the working conditions of this institution, by mitigating and controlling the risks present, so that workers who carry out their work activities can perform them safely and with full awareness of the occupational risks to which they are exposed, ensuring their physical, moral, and social integrity. For this process, an initial analysis of the plant was carried out to determine the physical conditions of the facilities and the working conditions of the workers. For the development of the occupational health and safety management system, a risk matrix was prepared per the INSHT format, to establish the risks present in the facilities; this matrix was used to identify, evaluate, and establish the necessary technical controls. Safety signage was implemented at the poultry plant, based on Ecuadorian technical standard NTE INEN-ISO 3864-1:2013, which refers to graphic symbols, colors, and safety signs. Fire extinguishers were implemented, and Jengle poultry plant personnel were trained on occupational hazards and the correct use and handling of the different types of extinguishers. The implementations resulted in a better working environment that is safer and more comfortable, which guarantees the health of the workers. It is concluded that the implementation of the occupational health and safety management system reduces risks and guarantees the integrity of theworkers. It is recommended that the personnel of the Jengle poultry plant respect the safety signs implemented in the facilities to avoid work accidents and prevent occupational diseases in the future.
