Análisis operativo de la concesión de la Autoridad Portuaria del cantón Manta

Abstract

Due to the lack of resources to invest in equipment and port infrastructure by the Ecuadorian government, for a long time, the port of Manta has developed several processes to be concessioned through public and private partnership, but these actions have failed due to the lack of coordination among them as these have not been fully complied as it was stipulated in the concession contract. This means that the port lacks of a clear outlook towards port development standards. This investigation focused on analyzing the current concession of the port of Manta and its incidence during the development of its operations. The methodology applied was bibliographic, synthetic and analytical, to find the information, a field investigation was used along with a descriptive research, the techniques applied consisted of an interview addressed to managers of both (Manta Port Authority) APM and Manta Port Terminal (TPM), surveys were also used for TPM collaborators and for the most important companies that make use of port services in order to focus on the the perspective of users who access the services offered by the Manta Port Terminal. According to the results obtained from this study, these seek to idealize proposals that help improve port services concerning the international port of Manta in order to develop strategies to improve the operations and services provided by the institution. In conclusion, the port shows adequate operations, although it is recommended that these strategies can be applied to improve them.
