Abstract

The objective of this research was to develop a mobility and road safety plan at the Pensionado Olivo High School. For this, a basic, observational, descriptive, and explanatory research was carried out in which a sample of 259 people from the educational community of 791 research subjects participated. A questionnaire was applied, which together with the results of the observation guide allowed to identify situations related to mobility and road safety in the educational environment. As main results, it was possible to identify the inadequacy of the road infrastructure adjacent to the educational unit, with little signaling; The non-use of environmentally friendly means of mobility and the little use of the existing pedestrian access were also identified. Additionally, the means of mobility most frequently used to travel to and from the educational unit were identified, which were private vehicles (56.66%) in the case of teachers and school transport (30.13%) in students. The main result of the study was the development of the mobility and road safety plan of the educational unit that was presented to the authorities of the center. It is concluded that there is a need to implement a mobility and road safety plan in the Pensionado Olivo High School, which is prepared and delivered as a proposed solution to the research problem raised in this study.
