Evaluación de la actitud y aptitud reproductiva de sementales de diferentes razas en la parroquia Yanayacu del Cantón Quero.

Abstract

The main objective of the research was to evaluate the attitude and reproductive aptitude of stallions of different breeds, representative of the cattle herds managed in the Yanayacu parish in Quero canton, the level and efficiency of production will depend on the reproductive rate of the herd, production of a new calf, fertility of the bull, ability to deposit semen in the reproductive tract of the female, the ability of that female to keep that product to term. For this purpose, behavioral tests are developed, which are the process through which the genetic potential of economically important characteristics in animals is evaluated, mainly those with high productive and reproductive potential. In this type of experiments, four main objectives were sought, such as testing the individual development of bulls, estimating the genetic value of prospective sires, comparing herds, and providing the market of sires with good specimens. The methodology responded to a logical deductive procedure, since it started from the particular cases (the analysis of the records of each animal) to formulate concepts applicable to all cases. For the evaluation of the quality of the stallions in the protocol for the selection of the best animals, the physical, functional and semen quality parameters of the animals were taken into account. Once the study was carried out, it was concluded that, on average, the animals registered a value equal to 3.1436 points (out of five possible points). In the physical evaluation, on the other hand, in the functional evaluation, the animals registered a value in the evaluated parameters equal to 3.4845 points out of 5 possible points. Finally, the semen quality of the males analyzed was, on average, equal to 3.1973 points out of 5 possible points.
