Aplicación de dispensación activa de medicamentos en el servicio de consulta externa en la farmacia del Hospital General Alfredo Noboa Montenegro de Guaranda.

Abstract

The aim of this research project was to apply the active dispensing of medicines (ADM) in the outpatient service at the pharmacy of the Hospital General Alfredo Noboa Montenegro of Guaranda. and a descriptive-explanatory study was necessary to make an initial diagnosis of the AMD through initial diagnosis of AMD through patient surveys and the fulfilment of several parameters of a checklist of the stages of this process, as well as the elaboration and implementation of a Standardised Operational Process. (SOP) to evaluate the results of the intervention finally. The initial sample consisted of 108 patients (based on the formula for finite populations) and pharmacy professionals, while the evaluation involved 30 outpatients. The data obtained were tabulated in the SPSS programme (version 23,2019), where a descriptive and inferential statistical analysis was carried out using bar graphs and percentage tables bar charts. In the first part of the study, the highest percentage of patients were older adults (age >60 years) and of these, 34.26% were women, and it was also generally known that 71.30% and 89.81% were unaware of the ADM and the health professional who should perform it, respectively. On the other hand, 71.43% of the parameters for the reception, analysis, and validation of prescriptions for the selection and registration were met in the checklist, registration 44.44% and in dispensing 33.33%. In addition, the Standard Operating Procedure was implemented for a period of 15 days, during which pharmacists and patients were trained on the stages and information to be provided about the medicines to be dispensed, so finally it was concluded that existed a relevant change in the ADM after the intervention.
