Auditoría ambiental al Hospital Básico Alausí, provincia de Chimborazo, cantón Alausí. Período 2018. Lineamientos alternativos

Abstract

The Enviromental Audit of the Alausi Basic Hospital, located in the Alausi canton province of Chimborazo, during the 2018 period. Altemative guidelines intended to evaluate the compliance with current legal regulations on waste and waste generated by Health Establishments. For its development, interviews were applied to a11 the staff of the Alausi Basic Hospital, as well as the analysis ofthe intemal control with the application of the different checklists to each ofthe areas in the Health Establishment and the specific regulations regarding intemal waste management; besides, the type ofwaste generated by the Hospital’resulting in a level of compliance in the classification and conditioning phase of 70%’that is acceptable, due to the lack of recognition of waste, the use of covers and containers with outdated regulatory specifications; in the transport process the level of compliance was 84%, that is satisfactory; however, parameters such as routes and collection schedules must be taken into account, and finally, in temporary and final storage, the level of compliance was deficient due to the lack of signage, conditioning of the place, among other relevant aspects. Under these circumstances, it is concluded that personnel must be trained because it is the basis for a good intemal management of hospital waste and it is recommended to analyze the improvement proposals not only to meet a requlrement but because biosafety and Enviromental care is everyon is sresponsibility.
