Plan de movilidad del cantón Colta 2019 - 2023, provincia de Chimborazo

Abstract

The present titling work named “Mobility Plan of the Colta Canton 2019-2023, Chimborazo Province” has as objective to improve the transport planning, traffic and cantonal road safety. This research parts of the analysis of the actual situation through a survey origin - destiny apllied to the population of rural an urban areas of the canton determined in the sample; with the application of this survey, it was obtained information such as: reason for trip, used means of transport, areas with greater traction and generation of trips, freight transport, days with greater frequency of trips, schedules with more trips. In addition, vehicle gauging and 7 stations were carried out to determine the Annual Daily Average Traffic (ADAT) that travels through the canton roads. This information was collected in the three days (Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday) in the schedule of 06:00 to 18:00. After finishing all information, it was determined that there are shortcomings in the mobility plan in the canton giving notice that the existent public service of transportation provides the transport service that does not fall within its scope of operation; the horizontal and vertical signals don´t present good conditions according to the established in the INEN standard. Subsequently with the information obtained it was possible to establish a series of proposal to improve and give security to the displacements that the population performs daily; the improvement of the intercantonal public transport system and implementation of intracantonal transport, synchronization of the traffic control devices in the intersections of traffic lights and the implementation of horizontal and vertical signals for the secure cantonal mobility. For this, it was based on the established guidelines in National Transit Agency (NTA) for the performing of mobility plans. By last, it was concluded that there isn´t a Mobility Plan in Colta canton which guarantees the accessibility and security of its inhabitants so that it is suggestd to the GADM and to the UTCTTTSV of the Colta canton that considers the present research as a true source for decision making in the transport field, transit, and vial security.
