Análisis, evaluación y propuesta de mejoramiento de la movilidad de la zona rural del cantón Chambo como parte del Plan de Movilidad Rural de la provincia de Chimborazo

Abstract

This degree work entitled: Analysis, Evaluation and Proposal to improve the mobility of the rural area of the Chambo canton as part of the Rural Mobility Plan of the province of Chimborazo, aims to analyze the mobility of the rural area of the Chambo canton trough research tools that permit improving the transport, traffic and road safety of the study area. The study was carried out by the means of surveys applied to the inhabitants of the rural sector of the canton and observation sheets for the road infrastructure, as well as the information provided by the Municipal GAD of Chambo and the Technical Unit of Terrestrial-Transport and Road-Safety. Once the fieldwork was finished and according to the results, it is determined that the most used transport-service is the Intraprovincial, which covers five communities with frequent schedules, therefore, the rest of the communities make use of other services and look for other methods to mobilize. Trough applying the vehicle counting form, it was determined that the busiest route is the one that starts at Carlos Cuadrado Street to the San Francisco community. With regard to road safety, the main roads leading to the communities lack horizontal and vertical signage or it is deteriorated. Therefore, it is proposed to establish a light-freight-transport stop for sectors that do not have any type of service; regarding road-infrastructure, road-maintenance-actions are proposed in the sections of greatest problem as well as the implementation of horizontal and vertical signage. It is concluded that the service provided by Intraprovincial Transportation does not comply with the routes and frequencies established in the operation contract, so it is recommended that the Technical Unit of Terrestrial-Transportation and Road-Safety of the Chambo canton carry out frequent monitoring on them.
