Análisis, evaluación de la señalización horizontal y vertical del segmento Toacaso-Sigchos de la provincia de Cotopaxi

Abstract

The present titling work has as its objective to make an Analysis and assessment of the horizontal and vertical signage of the segment Tocaso-Sigchos, in order to improve the road safety of the cantons. For the development of the assessment it was necessary to identify the technical specifications for signage based on the technical standard regulation INEN 004, by subsequently performing an analysis and evaluation of the critical points and the current status of the existing signage. Therefore, a direct investigation is carried out through the Tocaso-Sigchos segment from east to west and vice versa and at the same time observing, analyzing, and identifying the conditions in which are the road signs. For the present research we started from the road circulation of the segment, and the problems generated by the spaces in which the signal does not correspond to normal circulation or obstructs it, the cases were collected and a global solution is proposed attacking each situation in a particular way. It was determined that in a 97% of the Tocasi-Sigchos segment do not count with the respective signage and exits the need of an implementation of 152 vertical signs, as for the horizontal signage it is necessary to demarcate all the way. The Public Company of the Commonwealth of Cotopaxi is recommended to implement the signaling established in this titling work in order to improve mobility and road safety in the cantons of Tocaso-Sigchos.
